At least 10 people injured in shooting at Mall of Louisiana, police say

Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse Jr. asked anyone with information or cellphone video of the shooting to come forward to help identify the suspects.

“We’re gonna catch you,” Baton Rouge Mayor Sid Edwards said, addressing those responsible for the shooting.

“We’re not gonna have this in Baton Rouge. It’s not gonna happen,” he said. “I have complete confidence in our law enforcement partners that we’re gonna go out and grab these guys and get them off the street.”

Police said this is no longer an active shooter incident.

The shooting appears to have occurred after two groups of people got into an argument in the mall’s food court. Several bystanders who were not involved may have been shot, Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse Jr. said.

Ten people were taken to local hospitals, Morse said. He did not provide details on their injuries, although CBS affiliate WAFB-TV reported at least two people were critically injured. Police confirmed that several of the victims were in surgery.

The FBI’s New Orleans field office said in a statement it was “aware of and is responding to an incident at the Mall of Louisiana with our partners. At this time, that is all the information we can provide.”
