Social media personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate were taken into federal custody in Miami on Saturday, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

What are the charges?
Authorities have not yet disclosed the charges connected to the arrest. Marshals Service spokesperson Brady McCarron confirmed to the that the warrant remains under seal.
A later statement issued by the U.K.’s (CPS) detailed the allegations against both brothers.
According to the release, 39-year-old Andrew Tate faces seven additional rape charges, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, along with 19 further offences linked to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
His brother, 38-year-old Tristan Tate, has also been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The CPS stated that the allegations relate to incidents that allegedly occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.
Why are they arrested?
According to a person familiar with the matter, who spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly, the brothers were detained in connection with an extradition request from the United Kingdom.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has already a separate case against the Tate brothers, in which they collectively face 21 criminal charges, including allegations of rape, human trafficking and assault causing actual bodily harm.
In that earlier prosecution, Andrew Tate is accused of 10 offences, including rape, human trafficking, assault causing actual bodily harm, and controlling prostitution for financial gain. Those allegations involve three complainants.
Tristan Tate, meanwhile, faces 11 charges in the same case, including rape, human trafficking and assault causing actual bodily harm, with the allegations relating to one complainant. Both brothers have consistently denied every allegation made against them.
Years of mounting legal troubles
The Tate brothers, known for promoting hypermasculinity and boasting millions of followers across social media platforms, are wanted by British authorities, where they face allegations including rape and human trafficking.
Andrew and Tristan Tate, who hold both U.S. and British citizenship, relocated to Romania in 2016.
In 2022, Romanian authorities arrested the pair over allegations that they were involved in an organized operation that recruited women for sexual exploitation.

The brothers have consistently denied all accusations, and the prosecution was later halted after courts identified legal and procedural deficiencies in the investigation.

The former kickboxing champions have since built a massive online audience, particularly among teenage boys and young men, by promoting an extravagant lifestyle while frequently sharing content that has drawn widespread criticism for its misogynistic views and rhetoric.
