Montana tragedy: Law enforcement was summoned due to reports of “shots being fired” and a “child unconscious,” while fire units also hurried to a residence in where a tragic incident resulted in the deaths of at least eight people, including several children, in a mass shooting and house fire, as per a 911 dispatch audio.
“We have a situation going on with shots being fired,” the 911 dispatcher from Yellowstone states in the Sunday evening recording, as per The Post.
According to the dispatcher, a fire engine is currently “staged in the area,” and shortly after 6:00 p.m., a request for “another engine” was made to the house in Billings.
“There is also going to be an unconscious child inside of the home,” the dispatcher states, followed by another voice inquiring whether the minor has sustained any “GSWs” or “gunshot wounds.”
“Unconfirmed at this time. Just noted that it was unconscious,” the dispatcher replies, adding that she is unsure if the child is breathing.

Upon the arrival of emergency services shortly after 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, they observed a man outside the house, which was already engulfed in smoke, before they heard additional gunshots as the structure was consumed by flames.
The suspect was discovered outside the home with a self-inflicted gunshot injuries, police said
The suspect was then transported to the hospital, but he succumbed to injuries from self-inflicted gunshot wounds, as per NY Post. The identity of the suspect is yet to be revealed by the police. However, names of some victims were revealed by two online fundraisers and some local media outlets.
Authorities have not yet provided a motive for the massacre, although they said that the gunman was acquainted with the victims.

Information regarding the motive has not been disclosed at this time, nor has there been an explanation regarding the origin of the fire. Authorities have requested that the public refrain from approaching the scene as investigators work to gather evidence, with an additional update anticipated on Wednesday.
In a statement, police Sgt. Jeff Stovall expressed condolences to all those impacted by this terrible tragedy, while noting that officials are deliberately withholding certain details about the case to safeguard the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
