Lindsay Clancy murder trial: Prosecutors assert that text messages and online searches demonstrate that a mother intentionally killed her children, while her defense contends that these same pieces of evidence indicate the contrary.

On Thursday, the prosecution began to present digital evidence in the case, with Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Kyle Pavao testifying about a visit to a website called “suicide methods” on August 23, 2022.
Pavao stated that a Microsoft Surface Pro in the home was accessed at 9:40 a.m. that day, first searching for singer Tom Hall, who took his own life in 2021, and subsequently navigating to the suicide website.

Reddington ensured that Pavao confirmed to the jury that the Surface Pro device belonged to the defendant’s spouse, , and that the defendant was at a medical appointment for her son, Dawson, during the search of their household.
Lindsay Clancy’s cellphone data
Trooper Timothy Chiappini, who examined the data retrieved from the defendant’s cellphone, testified for the prosecution that Lindsay Clancy had conducted a search for “can you treat a sociopath” three days before the deaths of her children. “I’m sad and depressed,” the note states.
“I’m sad that I stopped breastfeeding. I feel not as connected with Cal now. I think I sort of resent my other children because they prevent me from treating Cal like my first baby, and I know that’s not fair to them. I know that. I was feeling so depressed last evening when and Dawson came home from school…I want to feel love and connection with all my kids. I’m also probably having a bit of an internal conflict because my whole life I’ve wanted to have a lot of kids.”
A subsequent note, which was created on December 22 and modified on January 23, the day prior to the children’s deaths, stated, “Medication stole my motherhood and my life…prescription medication stole me from my own body.”
Prior to the tragic deaths of the Clancy children, Lindsay Clancy asked her husband to buy dinner from a restaurant and make a stop at CVS. Prosecutors highlighted a search conducted on Apple Maps that calculated the distance and travel time from the Clancy residence to both locations, interpreting this as evidence of the defendant’s deliberate mindset and intention to harm her children.
‘You’re a good mama’, ‘premade goodie bags’ evidence
Reddington guided Chiappini through additional records from January 24, which included a photograph taken by of Cora and Dawson alongside the snowman they constructed that day, as well as Patrick Clancy’s reaction, “You’re a good mama.”
Reddington also pointed out various searches that the prosecutors did not emphasize from Lindsay Clancy’s device, such as a search for “hallucinations” on January 19 and “intrusive” on January 20. In addition to searches related to medications and psychological symptoms, the defendant seemed to look for more ordinary terms, including “premade goodie bags” on December 31 and “best kids movies.”
Court will not be in session on Friday and testimony will continue on Monday morning.
