Germany Stade shooting: 5 dead after gunfire at youth centre, 2 arrested

Five people are dead after a shooting in the northern German town of Stade, and two people have been apprehended, news agency AFP reported. Police said an operation was underway, while the motive behind the incident remains under investigation.

According to local media, the mass shooting occurred at a youth centre in central Stade, a town with a population of about 50,000 situated west of Hamburg.

Police urged the civilians via social media to avoid the area until the operation is underway. “A police operation is currently taking place in Stade. Avoid the area widely!” police said in a post on X.

Investigators have not disclosed any details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, as emergency services continue to operate at the scene, Euronews reported
