Earthquake of 5.8 magnitude strikes Mindanao, Philippines, days after Venezuela’s powerful quakes killed thousands

An earthquake of magnitude 5.81 strikes Mindanao, Philippines, on Monday (local time), the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.

The earthquake comes days after Venezuela’s twin powerful earthquakes that left over 3,000 dead.

The Philippine seismology agency Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the offshore tremor, Reuters reported.

The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), according to the GFZ report.
