A major fire on a tour bus resulted in the death of at least one person on Friday morning along the 60 Freeway, as reported by officials. It is unknown if the deceased was a passenger or the driver.

The event occurred at approximately 5:38 a.m. near the intersection of State Route 60 and Azusa Avenue in Hacienda Heights, according to a log from the Highway Patrol.

Photographs taken at the scene reveal that the rear section of the bus was severely charred, with flames seemingly consuming multiple rows of seats, as per NY Post.

The County Fire Department arrived at the location and successfully put out the fire.

Is 60 Freeway closed?

A SigAlert has been activated due to the closure of the third and fourth lanes of the freeway, according to the incident log. However, other lanes are operating.

Hacienda Heights is situated in the eastern part of County.

Authorities have asked the Los Angeles County Coroner to come to the site.
