As Tamil Nadu witnesses a massive political shift, a rather nostalgic celebrity moment has also grabbed attention. Actor-turned-politician Vijay, whose party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is making big waves in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026, found himself trending not just for politics but for his long-standing bond with Trisha Krishnan.

With TVK emerging as the single largest party and inching closer to forming the government, celebrations broke out across the state. Party workers were out in full force, dancing, distributing sweets and playing Vijay’s hit number ‘Whistle Podu’.

Amid all this, Trisha’s visit to Vijay’s home added a touch of film-world nostalgia to the political moment. Fans quickly linked it back to their cinematic journey, especially after their reunion in Leo.

‘Like meeting a school friend’: Trisha on working with Vijay

Their reunion in Leo after nearly 15 years had already stirred plenty of emotions among fans. Speaking at the time, Trisha didn’t hold back her affection for Vijay.

“Vijay… it was like meeting a school friend again after a long time. There was the same comfort, love, and friendship. In my 20-year career, the most long-term journey I had with a co-star was with Vijay. They say home is not a place, but a person,” she said.

She also described the shoot as unusually relaxed, adding, “Leo set was like that. I used to tell Lokesh, ‘It doesn’t feel like work – we all work much.’ But we were…it felt like a vacation.”

‘Our Princess Kundavai’: Vijay’s praise for Trisha

Vijay, on his part, had high praise for Trisha’s longevity in the industry. In a rare public compliment, he said, “It’s not easy for a young actress to stay at the top for 20 years, but Trisha did it with energy and beauty. She is our princess Kundavai. Best wishes to her.”

The “Kundavai” reference struck a chord with fans, linking her to the iconic royal character and reinforcing her status in Tamil cinema.

The one thing Trisha ‘hates’ about Vijay

Interestingly, an old interview clip has resurfaced online, adding a fun twist to their otherwise warm equation. During a chat show appearance, Trisha candidly admitted that there’s one thing about Vijay that she found a bit frustrating, his silence.

She revealed that while everyone else on set would chat and bond, Vijay often preferred sitting quietly, lost in thought. “It was annoying at times,” she admitted, explaining that his reserved nature could make him seem distant.

Vijay, staying true to form, simply responded that he was usually thinking about the scene, and then went back to being quiet.

From cinema to politics: Vijay’s big moment

All of this is unfolding at a time when Vijay is riding high politically. His party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, has delivered a stunning debut in the Tamil Nadu elections, winning 107 seats in the 234-member Assembly, just short of the majority mark.

Meanwhile, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has been reduced to 59 seats, marking a significant setback for the ruling party.
